AA
Kenya is a member of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) which
was Established in 1904. FIA initially embarked on a mission to establish
consistent governance and safety standards in the realm of motor sport. Over the years,
the FIA has evolved into a global entity with a multifaceted focus.
Bringing
together 243 Member Organisations from 147 countries on five continents, the
Federation is the governing body for world motor sport and the federation
of the world’s leading Mobility Organisations. Within the Mobility domain, the
FIA strives to ensure safe, sustainable, affordable and accessible mobility for
all global road users and is actively engaged in global advocacy
initiatives. In motor sport, the FIA guarantees that events held worldwide
adhere to equitable, well-regulated, and, above all, safe standards.
The FIA Region I International
Best Young Driver Contest is designed for young
drivers between 18 to 26 years old. In 2023, the final will be held in
Teesdorf, Austria from 6 to 8 October, kindly hosted by ÖAMTC.
11 Member Clubs (AA Kenya, AMZS, BIHAMK, EA991, IAM RoadSmart, MAK,
ÖAMTC, PZM, RACB, RACE, UAB) are sending their country’s finalists to compete
in the contest.
AA
Kenya organized this event here in Nairobi and later at the WRC Service Park in
Naivasha. Lynn Njambi & Kelvin
Mutuku emerged winners and they will represent Kenya in this contest. All costs
will be paid by AA Kenya.
Our young drivers’ skills in traffic rules, first aid and technical
aspects of vehicles will be tested during the contest.
ACTA Road
Patrol Training
This year,
courtesy of FIA, Road Patrol Technicians in Africa will be converging in Kenya
for a 3-day training to enhance their skills in their Road Rescue missions with
emphasis on safety.
This initiative will
raise the overall standard of roadside assistance services by providing an
opportunity for exchange on best practice and the latest developments in the
market.
The trainers will be drawn from
Austria and France where Road Rescue is on a more advanced level Incorporating
the newest technologies.
Safe-to-School
This is an
FIA sponsored project aimed at improving infrastructure around schools.
